Privacy Policy

Overview

Williamson Consulting Services ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you visit keyfolk.app (also served at ftyping.com), use the Keyfolk application, or interact with our online services.

Keyfolk is a web-based typing education application. We collect limited information needed to operate the site, provide the typing experience, gather voluntary feedback to improve the product, and fulfill legal obligations.

Information we collect

We may collect the following types of information:

• Feedback you voluntarily provide when you use the debrief form after a demo session, such as a name or nickname, age range, role, typed thoughts, and an optional email address. This is submitted only when you check the consent checkbox.
• An email address you give us on the landing page, if you use the "Follow along by email" form. That form asks for nothing else, and pressing the button is what sends it.
• Your account, if you choose to sign in. Signing in is optional; you can play without it. If you sign in with Google, we receive and store your email address and keep an account with the display name you choose, your place in the story, your practice totals, and the learning preferences you set. You can see all of it, change it, or delete the account from your account page.
• Technical information automatically collected by our hosting provider (Firebase Hosting) when you visit the site, such as IP address, browser type, device type, and pages viewed. This is standard server and security logging managed by Google/Firebase.
• Browser user-agent string submitted with debrief feedback for quality-assurance purposes (identifying browser-specific rendering issues).
• Your privacy acknowledgment, stored in your browser's localStorage so we can remember you saw the notice.
• Debrief form drafts, stored in your browser's localStorage so you can resume where you left off. These are not sent to our servers until you consent.

How we use information

We use information to operate and improve Keyfolk, analyze voluntary feedback to guide product decisions and go-to-market strategy, respond to inquiries, and comply with law. We do not sell your personal information.

When you give us an email address, either by checking the email consent box on the debrief form or by submitting the landing page signup form, we may send you product updates, typing tips, and other news about Keyfolk. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Cookies and storage technologies

We group storage technologies into the following categories:

• Essential: localStorage used for remembering your consent choice, debrief form draft state, and demo session preferences. These run without a separate opt-in because they are necessary for the site to function.
• Sign-in cookie: if you sign in, we set one cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 12 hours. It is only set when you sign in, is removed when you sign out, and is not used for analytics or advertising.
• Privacy analytics (Umami): we use Umami, a privacy-focused, cookieless analytics tool, to understand how visitors use the site. Umami does not collect personal data, does not use cookies, and does not track users across sites. Analytics data is aggregated and cannot identify individual visitors. Umami loads when you choose "Accept All" or "Privacy Only" on the consent banner.
• Ads measurement (Google Analytics): we use Google Analytics 4 for ads conversion measurement, so we can understand which advertising channels bring visitors to the site. Google Analytics uses cookies (_ga, _ga_*) to distinguish visitors across sessions. It does not receive keystrokes, typed answers, or other personal content from the application. Google Analytics loads only when you choose "Accept All" on the consent banner. If you choose "Privacy Only," Google Analytics does not load and no Google cookies are set.
• Ads measurement (Meta Pixel): we use the Meta Pixel for ads conversion measurement on Facebook and Instagram, so we can understand which Meta ad campaigns bring visitors to the site. Meta Pixel uses cookies (_fbp, _fbc) to attribute visits to ad interactions. It does not receive keystrokes, typed answers, or other personal content from the application. Meta Pixel loads only when you choose "Accept All" on the consent banner. If you choose "Privacy Only," Meta Pixel does not load and no Meta cookies are set.

We do not use behavioral tracking scripts or social-media trackers beyond the consent-gated tools listed above.

Third-party fonts loaded from Google Fonts may involve your browser contacting Google servers. See Google's privacy policy for how they handle that traffic. See Meta's privacy policy for how they handle Meta Pixel data.

Your choices

On your first visit, we show a consent banner with three options:

• Accept All enables essential storage, Umami analytics, Google Analytics, and Meta Pixel.
• Privacy Only enables essential storage and Umami analytics. Google Analytics and Meta Pixel do not load and no Google or Meta cookies are set.
• Decline keeps essential storage only. Neither analytics tool loads.

Your choice is saved in localStorage and you will not be asked again unless the consent terms change.

You can clear your browser's localStorage at any time to remove all locally stored data, including debrief form drafts and your consent choice. The banner will reappear on your next visit.

The debrief form is entirely voluntary. You can use Keyfolk without submitting any feedback.

How we share information

We share information with service providers that help us run the business: website hosting (Google Firebase), ads measurement (Google Analytics and Meta Pixel, if you chose "Accept All"), and email communication services if you opt in to updates. We require service providers to use information only to perform services for us. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, users, or others.

Debrief feedback is shared with the Keyfolk product team for analysis and product improvement, as stated in the consent notice on the form.

Data retention and security

We retain debrief feedback for as long as it is useful for product development, unless you request deletion. Hosting logs are retained according to Firebase's practices. Privacy acknowledgments in your browser do not expire automatically but can be cleared by you at any time. We use reasonable administrative and technical measures to protect information, but no website or transmission is completely secure.

Your rights

You may contact us to ask questions about this policy or request access, correction, or deletion of personal information we hold, subject to applicable law. California residents may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA).

If you are in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you may have rights under applicable data protection law, including access, correction, deletion, and restriction, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Children's privacy

Keyfolk is designed as an educational tool suitable for use by learners of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. The debrief form is voluntary and does not require personal information to use the typing experience. Parents and guardians may contact us to request deletion of any information submitted by a child.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Effective" date at the top shows when it was last revised. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
